Welcome

to Tedworth Park Polo Club

Tedworth is a fun and inclusive club that offers individual lessons, group clinics, instructional courses, liveries, pony hire, and polo at all levels.  It is an integral part of the Armed Forces Equine Charity (AFEC).  Our polo activities run throughout the year with a grass season in the summer and an arena season in the winter.  Both are very well supported by our regular members and many visiting teams.

We had a great arena season  over Autumn/Winter 25/26 and then had a very good summer on grass until the arrival of the July heatwave!  Despite the heat and lack of rain, we laid on a very successful Rundle Cup between the Royal Navy and the Army on 11 July, which was won this year by the Army.  The same day, we also hosted the famous Indian Cavalry Officers Association match, which was played between the UK Armed Forces Polo Team and a visiting American Military Polo Team.

The following weekend, the Captains and Subalterns tournament took place, with the Queen’s Royal Hussars running out eventual winners.  Finally, before the weather defeated us, we reprised the match that had been played in 1991 between the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars and the 14th/20th King’s Hussars, which took place immediately after those two regiments returned from Gulf War 1.  This year, 35 years on, the descendent regiments, the Queen’s Royal Hussars and the Kings Royal Hussars decided that a re-match was a fitting way to commemorate the event.  The match was played in great spirit up at Perham Down, with about 200 spectators present.  The format was a 6 chukka match, with players changing every two chukkas and the level being raised at each change.  In a very closely fought and very well played game, the Queen’s Royal Hussars ran out winners at 6 goals to 5.

We then moved into the Arena and held a couple of strong tournaments before the arrival of some rain allowed us to move back onto the Tattoo Ground for the final few tournaments of the season.  The most successful of these was the Tiger Trophy, the three-way inter-services tournament between the Army, Navy and Air Force.  The Army ran out eventual winners in an incredibly close competition, which was decided in the very last chukka!

We have now moved into the Arena for the Autumn/Winter 26/27 season and full details can be found at Arena Fixture List 26/27

Polo at Tedworth Park

Tedworth is celebrated for providing very high-quality low-goal polo in a fabulous setting, and expert tuition for anyone who wants to learn how to play.  The Club has the largest low-goal playing membership of any polo club in the country.  We deliver many levels of polo, but are recognised as offering beginners the best chance to experience polo in a friendly and welcoming environment.  Our comprehensive package of polo courses and lessons offers you the chance to experience the game at the level best suited to you; no matter how broad your experience, or whether you are a rider or non-rider.  Throughout the year we hold personal development clinics, novice introductory courses, advanced development courses, weekly club chukkas, beginners’ polo lessons and our ever-popular weekly instructional chukkas.

The Club offers lessons on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and Instructional Chukkas take place every Friday at 17:30.  Club chukkas take place every Wednesday at 17:30 and at 11:00 at weekends.  We also run grass tournaments every weekend from the beginning of May until the end of September (although this year that may well run on into October).

In the autumn, we move into our purpose-built 80 x 30 yd arena and the same routine of instruction, club chukkas and tournaments takes place from November until March.

Whatever the level at which you play, Tedworth Park Polo Club is the place for you!

Please contact info@tedworthparkpolo.com if you would like further information on lessons or any other aspect of the Club programme.
